Sourav Ganguly in BCCI president race
Supreme Court orders removing Anurag Thakur as the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), former star cricketer Sourav Ganguly's name has sprang up into the race of BCCIâ€™s president post. Anurag Thakur and BCCI secretary Shirke were removed from their posts for failing to implement the recommendations made by Lodha Committee. Lodha Committee recommendations were aimed at cleaning the Indian cricket off various ills. Also, Amitabh Chaudhary of Jharkhand Cricket Association, currently BCCI Joint Secretary, will expected to take on Shirke's role. Post Supreme Court order, the search for next BCCI president began, and everyone is of opinion that to fulfill the spirit of SC's judgment, a person has to have cricketer with reputation, clean image and be a good leader. Dada Saurav Ganguly has all these qualities and many in the cricketing fraternity are estimating that he might be the next BCCI president. Sourav Ganguly was an illustrious batsman and successfully led India as Captain. It was Sourav who instilled fighting spirit in Indian cricket team and laid the foundation for the successes Indian cricket team is achieving today. Ganguly also has administrative experience as Bengal Cricket Committee president, which might help him in BCCI president race.
